RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Execute home-page content plan in the early morning hours.
* View the home page holistically within the overall goals.
* Adjust creatively to meet performance goals and present users a compelling and engaging content mix, particularly when this requires deviation from existing content plan.
* Coordinate with assignment editors, Digital Media news editors and day-side home-page editor in setting early morning priorities.
* Think and react quickly to breaking news so the home-page is always up to date and coordinated with Network Now news updates.
* Responsible for editorial quality of the home-page headline stack
* Edit copy, write headlines and photo captions in a fast-paced, deadline environment, mindful of our site's SEO best practices
* Efficiently and effectively edit writer/contributor copy and post the site
* Serve as initial contact with writers in the early morning hours and make assignments based on breaking news
* Prioritize and assign to other colleagues editing jobs to ensure the most engaging content is dealt with promptly
* Prioritize editing queue in-line with the daily content plan but informed by data provided by real-time metrics
* Write and edit copy for analysts as required
* Remotely manage editing team during early morning hours
* Mentor more-junior colleagues
* Media representative at League office

REQUIREMENTS:
* 7+ years editorial experience, preferably in online medium and in the sports industry
* Some managerial experience
* Must be willing and able to work early mornings and weekends
* Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Strong organizational and prioritization skills
* Proven industry knowledge that lends itself to sound news judgment
* Knowledge of HTML and Photoshop
* Familiarity with web analytics and their application
* Ability to self-start and multi-task while setting priorities.
